Dad accused of...

WOW!! This story literally BLEEEEW ME AWAY!! A father accused of killing his 15 year old son over accusations that he had "sexual contact" with a 3 year old!

"HIGHLAND PARK, Mich. - A 37-year-old father irate over hearing his 15-year-old son had sexual contact with a 3-year-old girl made the teen strip at gunpoint, marched him to a vacant lot and shot him to death despite pleas from the boy and his mother, a relative said.
Michigan authorities filed a first-degree murder charge Wednesday against Jamar Pinkney Sr. in the shooting death Monday of Jamar Pinkney Jr. in the Detroit enclave of Highland Park.
Defense attorney Corbett O'Meara said prosecutors should consider evidence of the father's state of mind over the sex abuse report."

Now I've heard people express that they feel child molestor's should be killed but this definitely puts a twist on things! Don't even know where to begin with this one...

relaxing sunday

i had a zen like spa day today, it was so therapeutic, definitely needed it!

i woke up this morning, went shopping for a hair mask and some henna then also purchased some fresh raspberries.

came home gave myself the henna treatment, then ate the raspberries - they were semi sour/semi sweet, i enjoyed the blending of the two extreme flavors in one! delicious!

washed out the henna treatment (which by the way was my first time ever using henna, I believe henna is a gift from the gods of natural beauty!)

then it was time to deep condition my hair.

i sipped on some orange juice as my hair soaked in the elixir (hair mask) and then began watching the nanny diaries (cute sunday movie!)...

i still have approx 5 more hours until bedtime, when I rinse out the beauty elixir i'm going to take a luxurious shower using a salt scrub and try out my new vicki C's shea butter cream! can't wait...

until next time SMOOCHES! xoxox

Fort Hood

RIP to the ones who lost their lives at the Fort Hood attack. My heart goes out to their friends and family. I was watching the tragedy on the news and I can't imagine being a mother or a husband, brother, sister or wife wondering if my loved one was a victim, it just so nerve wrecking! You really have no control of situations like this, and I think that's the part that is so unsettling to me.

It makes me realize how bless I am that I appreciate life. When people begin to disregard life its one of the most dangerous things...we only have one life, and we need to cherish it!

Closer

Chasing a high
Trying to find the center
Trying to get a little bit closer
But I'm moving oh so further
Oh so further from what matters most
This song that plays in my heart
Beats so fast its keep us apart
It feels so real to me
So near, but yet your so far
Can I get a little bit closer...
To you
Can I?
Can I get a little bit closer.

Saving is for Suckers

Lately I find myself very interested in understanding how my money and the economy works! I honestly believe understanding how your credit works and learning how to invest your money should be thought in high school instead of algebra! Now these are things that would benefit us as adults not instead of learning why E=MC2!!!

I just learned that instead of saving your money you should invest it. Main reason being when we put our money in the bank we lend it to the bank at a rate of about 1%, our bank in turn lends OUR money to the government for 4%, to big companies at 6% or to smaller companies for 8% or more!! These banks are profiting off of our money and we in turn get NOTHING!! Let me do add that this strictly applies to the currenct economic state that our economy is in.

Please read the following article so that the author (Jon Markman) can break it down for you in more technical terms: http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/learn-how-to-invest/why-saving-is-for-suckers.aspx

He suggests ways to start investing your money because as of right now "investing will get you a lot further than saving". I am definitely going to look into this!

"LOVE...
isn't something that is earned
it's deserved
love is something I can give
Cause I'm worth it"
- Floerty

Don't Stop Us

Do good things come easy?
Are you ready for this journey
Do you think we can make it through?

What was it that drew us close together
Maybe if we figure that out we can pull through
And stop all this fighting and this pain

Let me pour you a good long drink
Let us sit and reminisce about what we do
Let me be the one to guide us through

Let you and I become us
Let me and you become we
This is so special we can't be afraid.

Always and Forever

So many nights have come and gone
So many forever's were promised to me
so many times I wished you were here with me

So many days I thought about you
So many always should be me and you
but so many obstacles in our way

You said Forever
I said Always
But the only thing that was forever and always
Was that there once was a you and me...

Lost without you

I'm open baby
I'm ecstatic
I'm full of love

Do I ever cross your mind?
Do I ever make you feel
Do you ever fantasize of what could be

Do we have that one thing in common?
Or are we so far apart that we can't see,
Blinded by our selfish needs

Tell me who I have to be
I want you still...
I always will...

Cars of the future

I am the last person to ever know anything about cars but I thought this was so cooooooool!!!

Here is what the future holds:

Volkswagen L1 Concept - "a car that uses one liter of fuel—about a quarter of a gallon—to propel a car for 100 kilometers, or 62 miles. The one-liter car’s fuel economy translates to almost 240 mpg... Three ingredients were needed to make it happen: a supremely efficient powertrain, great aerodynamics, and lightweight engineering... It could be on the market as soon as 2013" says Volkswagen sources!!

I think I'm going to buy my first car in 2013!!

I was really sad to hear that Patrick Swayze lost his battle with pancreatic cancer today. When I was a tweeny/teen I think I watched Dirty Dancing every 3 days! I LOVE THAT MOVIE, so I just wanted to take the time and say RIP to the first man to dance his way into my life!

Greaaaat day today!!

I left work early today to attend our annual summer outing. We went bowling at Lucky Strikes, I chilled and hanged out with my favorite chicks at work! I really realized how much I LOVE these girls today. I can honestly say I found a family of friends who I can truly keep it real with, who doesn't judge me but at the same time tells me like it is when need be. We talked about everything from work to relationships, we cracked endless jokes, we drank and just naturally had a GREAT TIME.

BIG UP TO SANGRIA WEDNESDAYS AT FASHION 40!

Coco Excerpts - Part 1

I wanted him to kiss me there
I wanted him to kiss me here
I was feeling like I would just explode
I was feeling like I had no control
I couldn't stand to feel his kisses
I started to think about how much I could miss this
I wanted him to lick it,
I wanted him to bite it and light it up
I simply crave that fire touch
Oooo la la how I want it so much
I miss the days that we were together
I think I'll start by sending him a letter.

Guess.....

Who is bizaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!

I found my username and password YAAAAAAAY!!

Good Hair by Chris Rock

Kudos for Chris Rock on filming a documentary about "Good Hair" which I suspect is targeted towards and addressing the whole idea and thought process of what is considered "good hair" amongst the African American community. Chris Rock said he got the idea when his daughter came to him crying and asked, “Daddy, how come I don’t have good hair?”

"Good Hair visits hair salons and styling battles, scientific laboratories, and Indian temples to explore the way black hairstyles impact the activities, pocketbooks, sexual relationships, and self-esteem of black people."

My hair is all natural and curly and it always amazes me when people say you have "good hair" because the first thing I think is try running a comb through this with out some leave-in-conditioner or water or something!

But anyways I can't wait to check the documentary out when it hits theaters! One of the producers for the documentary said that "there needs to be a real discussion among black woman about when their daughters should get a relaxer." I TOTALLY agree, I cannot understand the thought process behind giving a 4 year old a perm!! Little girls need their hair to grow and develop before exposing them to such a potent chemical. And besides when you have a perm you have to know how to treat your hair (being that it is in a weaker state than when natural) and a 4 year old definitely does not know how to take care of permed processed hair!

breakfast at tiffany's

It's amazing how much I can understand Holly in this movie! I think I'm going to have a "breakfast at Tiffany's" weekend and go Window shopping on 5th ave! LOL

For those who never seen this movie, check it out, here is a quick synopsis from rottentomatoes.com:

Synopsis: Blake Edwards's adaptation of Truman Capote's classic novella is ideally cast with Audrey Hepburn in the role of Holly Golightly. The free-spirited gamine darts about New York, feted by wealthy men drawn to her megawatt charm and elegance, hoping that the party will never end. After "shopping" in front of Tiffany's window, she meets aspiring writer Paul Varjak (George Peppard), and they begin a platonic friendship. "Sponsored" by an older woman (Patricia Neal) whose interest in the young man is more than literary, he can identify with her experience better than most, taking it upon himself to protect her from the worst aspects of city life. But she seems to need little protection from such friends as incarcerated mob boss Sally Tomato (Alan Reed), who pays her to carry messages to Sing Sing. With her infectious joi de vivre, she helps Paul break through a paralyzing case of writer's block. But when the genial Doc Golightly (Buddy Ebsen) appears in New York in search of Holly, the sources of her gossamer lifestyle suddenly become clearer. Edwards's lighter-than-air romantic comedy, set in a fantasy New York, rides on the irresistible charm of Hepburn at her peak, as well as a memorable score by Henry Mancini. Although George Axelrod's screenplay is as different from the original story as George Peppard is from the young Capote, the film succeeds on its own terms.

Face Mask

For those of you looking to save money and totally confused on what to buy with the billions of face products out there, I have an answer to your prayers! LOL. I tried this face mask at home and it did wonders on my face after the first application!

Ingredients:
Strawberries
1 Cup of Vanilla Yogurt
1 tbs of Honey

Blend the strawberries and pour into a cup, mix in the yogurt and honey and stir together. (What I found is that the cup of yogurt was too much, you can eat 1/4 and use approximately 3/4 to make your face mask LOL!) Then apply the mask to your face and leave on for about 10 mins and then rinse off. Your face will feel totally brand new! And this will end up costing you no more than $8 bux!!

I used about 5 strawberries, 3/4 cup of yogurt and the honey and I have enough face mask for about 2 weeks, maybe even longer! I am very picky and a harsh critic of face products so trust me this remedy gets the stamp of approval! So go ahead and try it and do let me know what you think.

Fierce woman in Time

From time to time I like to spotlight different woman in history who inspire me and make me proud to be a W-O-M-A-N. This month I would like to spotlight the exotic beauty Ms. Josephine Baker (June 3rd, 1906 to April 12, 1975). Most people might know of her for the infamous banana skirt outfit she wore for a performance in Paris in 1927. Here is a little bio I found on her website:

Josephine Baker sashayed onto a Paris stage during the 1920s with a comic, yet sensual appeal that took Europe by storm. Famous for barely-there dresses and no-holds-barred dance routines, her exotic beauty generated nicknames "Black Venus," "Black Pearl" and "Creole Goddess." Admirers bestowed a plethora of gifts, including diamonds and cars, and she received approximately 1,500 marriage proposals. She maintained energetic performances and a celebrity status for 50 years until her death in 1975. Unfortunately, racism prevented her talents from being wholly accepted in the United States until 1973.

What inspires me about this woman is that she dropped out of school at the age of 12 and lived on the streets, eating food from garbage cans and sleeping in cardboard shelters. She would perform on the streets which is where she was discovered and recruited at age 15. She later traveled to Paris to perform and became an instant success, appearing almost nude on stage and tantalizing the audience with her exotic dancing. Not only did she grace Paris with her presence but her style also represented one aspect of the "Art Deco" fashion that was popular at the time.

She was the most successful American entertainer working in France in her prime. In addition to being a musical star, Baker also starred in three films which found success only in Europe because of how prominent racism was in America at the time. The three films are Siren of the Tropics (1927), Zouzou (1934) and Princesse Tam Tam (1935). Now if that's not FIERCE I don't know what is!! So I wanna take this time to salute Josephine Baker for her charisma, her originality and for the legend that she became!

Stay Healthy on the Inside

I saw this ad in the newspaper for a Lecture on the discussion of staying healthy and living well in recognition of National Nutrition Month. (I didn't even know March was National Nutrition month...)

So I decided I am going to attend the lecture next week Tuesday (March 24th, 2009 - 6 pm to 7:30 pm) at NYU Langone Medical Center. I am really looking forward to joining in on the discussion. The benefits of healthy nutrition, yoga and new exercise techniques are all up for discussion. The presenters are Jennifer Crum, MS, RD, Supportive Services Program, NYC Clinical Cancer Center and Laurelle Kilmartin, DPT, CLT-LANA, CSCS, Senior Physical Therapist.

I am currently in the mental preparation stage of changing the way I eat and adding exercise to my daily routine so that I can practice a more healthy lifestyle. And YES I DID say mental preparation stage! :-) We are talking about changing years and years of not so good habits that I have adapted through out my life time!

If anyone is interested in attending let me know and I can give you the RSVP information.

Legalize it?

So I'm hearing that California is considering legalizing weed to help its ailing state budget. I don't know the details as yet of how this would be enacted, but my first thoughts are it's very hypocritical! All of a sudden its okay to legalize weed just for the sake of making money for the state?

What message does this send out to our children? Isn't this the same as the common drug dealer selling for profit? How is it now okay because the government can profit from it?

What are you thoughts?

Get MAD!!

For those who know me really well know that when I express anger I ALWAYS feel extremely extremely guilty afterwards, no matter if I know I'm right I always feel like the situation was not that serious to get so upset. I noticed that we women tend to feel this way more than our male counterparts. I guess this goes with the whole "girls are meant to be seen but not heard" meantality.

So when I stumbled across this in a magazine it made me feel better:

Lashing Out
Ninety-two percent of women Glamour polled say they vent their frustration by yelling.

Getting mad at Pals
A survey shows that 56 percent of young women tend to get angry at people they actually like.

Road Rage
Forty-six percent of women honk at, shout at or give the finger to rude drivers.

In light of these findings ladies I say GET MAD!! and don't feel guilty about it, anger is healthy sometimes, it just makes you more human, and less likely to be taken advantage of!!!

Beyonce... Etta James controversy

I'm really confused about all of this Beyonce/Etta James controversy when Beyonce has done a beautiful job of honoring the great singer. See you tube video above...
Apparently Etta James is saying that she cannot stand Beyonce and she was upset that B performed her song for President Obama and wife Michelle's first dance. Can't we all just get along!?!

Build or Destroy?

I want to take this time and talk about the most inspirational moment in the Presidential Inauguration speech that stuck out to me. When President Obama said:
"know that your people will judge you on what you can build, not what you destroy".
There is soooo much more I have to say and feel about this statement but I think this is a blog that I have to build upon and therefore revisit. I just wanted to definitely take the time and point out the greatness of this statement. Brought tears to my eyes.

The Art of Kissing

I believe there is an art to kissing. You got to know what you doing man! I was ecstatic when I stumbled across this list which describes different ways to kiss. Really cute! With Valentine's day around the corner I can't wait to try some of these kisses out. If you read this blog please let me know which ones on the list your willing to try lol, or if you have your own kissing technique do share!

Chocolate Kiss

Best done with a Mars Bar because there is caramel in that too! Just take a bite and French kiss as you would. Very silky smooth type of kiss, and can end up very messy. Extremely pleasurable, and even more funny! Perfect for a first date just after a first kiss, or something to do that's a little bit different. A must for anyone, best style of kissing ever!

Spiderman Kiss
It's just like in the movie. You kiss upside down, taking in both of your lower lips and do all those other kisses listed above.

Spitzer Kiss
What you do is when you are ready to kiss (or even while you're Frenching or doing any other kiss) is gently nibble and/or lick the parts just above or below your partner's lip. Now don't slobber all over your partner. Just give enough saliva to get them damp. This is very fun and romantic. It will also turn your partner on or in other words make them like the kiss more.

Lap Kiss
While your partner is laying with his/her head in your lap, lean over and kiss her/him. Your bottom lip will be on your partner's top lip, and vice versa. You can even French kiss while in this position. This kiss is a playful kiss, and it can lead to much more.

Carmex Kiss
If either you or your partner are not carmex junkies, apply a little carmex to your lips and feel the gentle tingle on your lips.

Muzzle Kiss
When kissing the neck of your partner, at one point blow air out of your mouth while pressing the lips down, creating the sound of some sort of... flatulence. It should be ever so unexpected and quite interesting indeed.

Trade-off Kiss
One of you gets a cinnamon candy and the other a mint. One takes the cinnamon and the other the mint. While French kissing, switch them from time to time. Great fun.

Tongue Ring Kiss
What you do is, if your partner has a tongue ring and the two of you are French kissing, mess with his/her tongue ring while kissing and it gives your partner chills and excitement/happiness because a lot of people with tongue rings love that. Or if the two of you have a tongue ring have a tongue ring WAR! What you do is keep his/her tongue away from your tongue ring, while you're messing with their tongue ring. (NOTE: don't Tangle tongue rings together because that will be a disaster!)

Breath Kiss
In a hot moment - creates major anticipation - barely touch lips with lips slightly parted... then breath your partner's breath... moving heads slowly to experience different sensations... lips touching on and off slightly... it is a very teasing sort of kiss and builds passion tremendously.

Chew Kiss
Tell your partner to place their tongue deeply into mouth deeply... you VERY GENTLY "chew" on the back part of their tongue... do not suck. This will create a sensation in other places that can be very exciting!

Touch Kiss
You do this after you and your partner have Frenched or really kissed a lot. What you do is just simply touch tongues - like the tip of your tongue. You may want to move it around but you don't have to. You don't do it inside your mouth you do it out in the open.

Underwater Kiss
Have your partner hold their breath underwater and when he or she taps you give them air.

Moving Kiss
Make sure a bed or couch or chair is behind your partner and when French kissing gently push your partner onto the chair or whatever is behind them. Very good for serious couples or just beginners.

Flavor Kissing
Put a piece of long lasting gum in your mouth (Hubba Bubba, Trident) just before you and your partner French kiss. While kissing pass the gum back and forth, and see how long it takes for the flavor to run out!

Chin Kiss
Hold your partner's chin with your middle, index, and thumb and tilt their head in the right direction. Continue to hold it as you kiss.

Suck Kissing
This can be a very seductive type of kiss. Instead of French Kissing with your mouth open, while your partner's lips are parted suck on their top our bottom lip with your own, just for a second or two. Then go back to another type of kiss or try the other lip.

Nip Kissing
This type of kiss has to be done carefully, but when done correctly can create a wonderful effect on your partner. While suck kissing, gently bite their lip, but be VERY gentle so as not to hurt your partner. This kiss should only be done with someone that you've kissed a few times before, otherwise you may shock your partner.

Surprise Kissing
This type of kiss is done when your partner is lying down on a sofa or the ground, either asleep or just lying with their eyes closed. Quietly approach your partner and place a small, very gentle kiss on their lips. Intensify the kiss until your partner opens their eyes or awakens.

Vacuum Kissing
This is a playful kiss. While in an open-mouthed kiss, suck in deeply so you're sucking the air from your partner.

Cordial Kissing
Take a sip of your favorite drink, either alcohol or something sweet, and then when your lips meet pour the drink in your partner's mouth. Only take a very small sip.

Butterfly Kissing
Put your eye really close to your partner's cheek and flutter your lashes upon their skin. You can also do this on their lips.

Melt Kissing
Pass an ice cube back and forth in mouth while French kissing.

Glow Stick Frenzy
Pass the mini mouth glow stick back and forth (same thing as melt kissing).

Tongue Sucking
When you have the chance to get really deep into your partners mouth, suck on their tongue as far as you can. Don’t suck to hard, you don't want to hurt your partner. Otherwise it's very pleasing!

Sigh Kiss
When you first start kissing your partner gently lick their lips with the tip of your tongue. Then blow or sigh into their lips, causing a tingling feeling that will intensify your kiss for sure.

Pop Kiss
Use pop-rocks, great fun. You've heard of fireworks, this is an explosion!

Tongue Tease
When you're French kissing, if/when you pull back, and before your mouths meet again, you can flick your tongue up and down quickly against the other person who is doing the same. It's very teasing and fun to see how long it lasts. It’s hard to resist going strong after a while of flicking.

Seven Pounds

This movie didn't get that much hype for a Will Smith movie. But I'm telling you it was spectacular!!! I know I'm a die hard Will Smith fan, but no shade... this movie is BOSS! Ladies especially please go see this movie, you will not regret it, and make sure you bring some Kleenex.

Will Smith's performance is sooo captivating and amusing. Will Smith's character is crazy, unpredictable, fun, romantic, unfair, wonderful and mesmerizing, all at once. My advice is to be a little patient with Seven Pounds, at first you may be frustrated trying to piece the puzzle together but trust me it's worth hanging in there!

Kudos to Will Smith for delivering what I believe is another timeless performance!

Virginity for sale?

I first saw this chick who wants to sell her virginity to the highest bidder on Tyra Bank's show. She really believes that she should profit from her first time; she wants to use the money to pay for grad school. Her name is "Natalie Dylan", she's a pretty girl and Tyra actually had one of the men interested in bedding her on the show. It was this old creepy frail looking man, gross!

Natalie believes that she is really empowering women by auctioning off her goodies. For those of you wondering if this is even legal it’s because this experiment will take place in Las Vegas, Sin City baby! Anyways she says she is not just going for the highest bidder, but for someone whom she has chemistry with. The guy who wins her kitty kat (lol) will go through a criminal background check and STD test. On Tyra’s show a good point was brought up, they asked the frail looking creepy man why would he want to pay for a girl with no experience, who essentially can’t please him in bed? His response was he wants to show her a nice time, and that he would take her out and wine and dine her first. Awwww how sweet? lol

Now I’m all for women getting paid! But I’m not sure if I agree with Natalie on this one, and besides why would a guy want to pay 3.8 million for this, obviously if he has that much money he can get it for cheaper! But I guess it’s the whole taking her virginity thing? Who knows I’m not a guy, so I can’t tell you how they think.
But what are your thoughts?

Shoe Clips...ooo la la!

I thought this was a really cool concept... clips for your shoes!

I found out that shoe clips were first introduced in the Victorian era (roughly 1837 to 1901). Women would dress up their footwear with a variety of detachable bows, buckles and jewels instead of purchasing numerous pairs of shoes. Now how fierce is that?!?!

I could definitely take a lesson from my ladies of the Victorian Era, especially now that we are in a recession and times are hard. The way I see is what better way to recycle that old pair of shoes you're tired of rocking, or to spruce up that $15 payless pair!

If you think this is fierce like I do - check out the following websites and get ya shoe clip on:

Body Butters

Imagine that...butter for your skin, so creamy and so soft. I love to step out of the shower and add that extra layer of luxurious moisture to my skin. Some people sip wine to relax, light up a cigarette or puff puff. Me I prefer to lotion! lol Just wanted to let everyone know about the Bath and Body Works sale going on right now - 3 body butters for $15.

I used to lo... like him

Random thoughts...
I really used to like him, (as cliche as it sounds) he gave me butterflies.
I wanted to get to know him, and taste that bad boy style.
I was hoping he was diggin me and I wouldn't have to act shy.
I was ready to give him the thickness, I thought he was soo flippin FLY.
But its CRAZZZY how he just didn't see it and it he let love go by
I mean I really did... in my eyes I really did try...
